Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers.
What is in-home care?
In-home care is assistance with daily needs at your own home. It could be help with meals, grocery shopping, or rides to appointments. It could also be a higher level of care such as help transferring in and out of bed, help with bathing or using the restroom. Happy at Home has a wide range of services to help you accomplish the things you need to while maintaining as much personal independence as possible.
I only need respite care a few hours a week, is it worth it?
Definitely. If you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to be there for others. We offer a two hour shift minimum. The only regret family members have had when signing up for respite care is that they didn’t call sooner. We can provide care for your loved ones so you can get a well-deserved break, have time to run errands for yourself, have a date night with your spouse, or take a trip.
My family member lives in an assisted living family/community, can we still hire you?
Yes. Many of our clients reside in assisted living facilities; our services complement and enhance their experience. Often facilities are challenged with being able to meet every resident’s individual needs. We can give your loved one the personal assistance, attention, and companionship they deserve. We can provide transportation and escort them to and from appointments and outings on their own schedules not the schedule of the facility.
What areas do you serve?
You may view our various offices and location on our Areas We Serve page
What training/experience do your caregivers have?
All caregivers go through at least 5 hours of online training in the basics of care-giving and memory care as well as a two hour hands on training on lifting, transferring and body mechanics. They are required to complete ongoing training every year.
Does insurance cover your services? Does Medi-Care?
Long term Care insurance will reimburse and there are benefits through the VA for veterans and veteran survivors. Medicare unfortunately does not cover non-medical care like ours.
Is there insurance that covers in-home care?
Yes, there are long-term care insurance policies that cover in-home care services. Sometimes clients have a policy and their families don’t know they do. Be sure to find out if your loved one has an existing policy, it could help cover in-home care expenses. We offer customized care plans to meet your family’s budget and needs.
My family member doesn't have a car, how can they get to appointments or outings?
All of our caregivers have their own licensed insured vehicles and accident free DMV driving records. Happy at Home’s insurance also covers caregivers while they are in your service; whether providing transportation, or providing service in the home.
What services do you provide?
Light housekeeping, meal prep and cooking, transportation, shopping, pet care, medication reminder, bathing, dressing, restroom assistance and hygiene care, transferring and ambulation, companionship and supervision.
Are your caregivers bonded?
Yes, our agency is fulling licensed, bonded and insured.
Can you help if someone has Alzheimer’s/Dementia?
Yes! We’ll match your loved one with a caregiver that is familiar and experienced in memory care who also has a compatible personality.
What are your hourly rates?
Depends on location and how many hours one has in the day.
